The Story

Who I am & why I create

I work with clay because it gives me a way to slow down and make something with my hands. My studio practice begins with attention: to the weight of a form, the trace a thumb leaves in the surface, and the way a glaze changes in morning light. I am interested in objects that feel familiar before they are understood. Each piece is made in Barcelona, in small runs and with room for the clay to keep its own character.

A Conversation

Interview with Anna

What brings you back to clay? Clay asks me to pay attention. It holds every decision, including the hesitant ones, and that makes the work feel honest. What do you hope people notice? The small evidence of a hand: a softened edge, a quiet imbalance, the warmth of something made slowly. Where do your forms begin? Often with a memory of a vessel rather than a drawing. I start with the feeling it should hold.

How I Make

Process & behind the scenes

I begin at the wheel or by building a form slowly by hand. The first shape is only a starting point; it changes as the clay dries and asks for a different balance. After a slow first firing, I work with mineral glazes that keep the surface open to light. The final firing brings together the marks, weight and texture that have accumulated along the way. I keep the process visible because it is part of the life of each object.
